Italian funds snatch record €24bn debt securities in September

Mixed funds’ holdings jump by half as bond-only funds tick up 2%

Italian investment funds acquired €24 billion ($25.2 billion) of debt securities in September – a monthly increase of 14.4% – that brought the country’s total to a record high of €191.2 billion.

The surge was not only the largest in a single month for Italy going back to 2008, but also the largest proportional increase in debt securities of any country with more than €10 billion since January 2012.
