Global banks’ systemic footprint grew at record pace in 2021

Every indicator up on previous year, only the second time in G-Sib assessment history

The systemic footprint of the world’s top lenders grew across the gamut in 2021, with more than half of the indicators used by the Financial Stability Board increasing at the fastest pace in a decade, Risk Quantum analysis found.

The international standard-setting body published the aggregate indicator amounts used to calculate global systemically important bank (G-Sib) scores on November 21, following the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision’s methodology. These are the sum of the values
