SMFG reports highest power sector emissions intensity

Across all systemic banks, only eight dealers disclose their GHG emissions for this field

Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMFG) has reported the highest emissions intensity for its power sector portfolio across the systemic banks disclosing this metric, Risk Quantum analysis of the latest available figures shows.

A review of the 30 global systemically important banks’ disclosures from the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), a body backed by the Financial Stability Board, found only 13 reported financed emissions. Among these, nine opted to disclose emissions
