BoA adds to European structured debt and risk management team

Banc of America Securities, the investment banking arm of Bank of America, has boosted its European debt capital raising and risk management group.

Thomas Burkard will join the bank as a senior global structured products marketer for the German speaking countries in Europe. He was previously an executive director at Goldman Sachs, Frankfurt, covering the firm's complete fixed-income product range for insurance companies. Prior to this he spent three years at Commerzbank, heading the teams responsible for domestic fixed-income coverage to insurance companies, investment funds and German-based banks. At Banc of America Securities, Burkard will report to Mitch Braselton, head of European structured products marketing.

Alex Cha will relocate to London from the bank’s Charlotte headquarters to head the European asset-backed securities (ABS) and mortgage-backed securities (MBS) trading and syndicate desk. Cha joined Banc of America Securities in 1996 as an agency collateralised mortgage obligation trader before moving to the ABS trading group in 1998. Cha will report to Arrington Mixon, head of debt capital raising and risk management for Europe, and to Chris Hentemann, global head of ABS/MBS trading.

Meanwhile, Ian McBride will join Banc of America Securities’ US Treasuries and agencies sales team. He was previously US Treasury and agency product manager at BNP Paribas. McBride will build the bank’s US liquidity product sales business in Europe. He will report to Brian Heyworth, head of European sales, and to Kurt Harrison, global head of US Treasuries and agencies sales.
