Chinese equity derivatives master agreement close to being finalised

Securities firms in China have begun trading OTC equity derivatives, with a final master agreement expected soon

A final master agreement for securities companies to trade over-the-counter equity derivatives is close to being finalised by the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), say local market participants.

As part of the push by the CSRC to encourage the development of an onshore derivatives market, it issued a consultation paper on amendments to the proprietary trading activities of securities companies on October 31, 2012.

The proposed amendments came into effect on November 16, 2012 and
