EU bond funds’ debt securities see largest increase since pandemic

Holdings up €102 billion in November, driven by funds in Luxembourg, Ireland and France

Debt securities held by European Union bond funds spiked by €102.3 billion ($106.3 billion) in November 2024, marking the biggest monthly increase since April 2020.

Bond funds across 20 EU countries held a record €3.64 trillion in debt securities, the highest level in 14 years of data. Holdings grew 2.9% compared to a month earlier and 17.1% from the prior year.
