Czech National Bank raises countercyclical buffer to 2%

Increase takes effect from July 2020

The Czech Republic's central bank has increased the countercyclical capital buffer (CCyB) for domestic banks to 2%, taking the number of states in the European Economic Area to have raised the measure in the year-to-date to four. 

The decision, announced on May 25, was made in response to the alleged higher vulnerability of the country’s banking sector. The increase will take effect from July 2020.
