A senior risk manager at a large global bank has urged the industry to take seriously the possibility of a major geopolitical crisis in Asia.

“The signals we see point very much to the threat of nationalistic politics, for instance in Asia,” said Kanwardeep Ahluwalia, co-head of global markets risk at Bank of America.

Asia has not seen a full-scale military conflict in decades, but the same was true of Europe before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, he noted.
