Risk managers must speak the language of CFOs to have greater influence

Companies must understand their risks in order to avoid business continuity issues, Nick Major, the chief underwriting officer at insurance and financial services group Zurich, told the Federation of Risk Management Associations (Ferma) forum in Maastricht on September 30.

Major added that a risk manager who can talk the language of the chief financial officer (CFO) and understand the financial impact risk appetite has on the business is more likely to get results.
