EU to grant last-minute margin reprieve for equity options
European Commission to publish changes to Emir technical standards within days
European Union regulators will soon publish an update postponing the application of non-cleared margin on equity options by at least another year, according to three bank sources and a lawyer.
“We have known for a while that the equity options derogation is going to be extended for at least a year, if not longer,” says a legal source at a global investment bank. “[The announcement] should be out this week.”
