The House of Lords: looking for gaps in EU financial reform

The upper house of the UK parliament has launched an inquiry into EU financial reforms, which its chair – Lyndon Harrison – hopes will be used to shape government policy following next year’s elections. By Tom Osborn

An inquiry by the House of Lords – the upper chamber of the UK parliament – into the fitness of EU financial reform might look to some like a vehicle for rabble-rousing by a political class that is increasingly swimming with the country's Eurosceptic tide. Yet that isn't the intent, says Labour peer Lyndon Harrison, chair of the Lords' EU sub-committee on economic and financial affairs, which launched the inquiry in July.
