UK tells European Commission it will not apply CCD to mortgage lending

The UK Treasury and the Financial Services Authority (FSA) have penned a joint response to a questionnaire from the European Commission, saying there are no plans to extend the Consumer Credit Directive (CCD) to cover mortgage lending in the UK.
   
The letter to the Government Expert Group on Mortgage Credit says the UK seeks to harmonise regulations between unsecured and secured lending to aid consumer understanding where possible, but it also highlights that UK regulations are tailored to
