Basel II Forum USA: Speakers stress feedback can still shape regulation

With the commentary period for the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision's final consultative paper (CP3) officially ending tomorrow, two speakers at Risk's Basel II Forum USA urged banks to be vocal about concerns related to the implementation of Basel II.

“Comment can still shape proposals and have an effect on regulation,” said Darryll Hendricks, a senior vice-president at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.Hendricks, who was addressing delegates at the forum in New York, highlighted calibration to expected or unexpected loss and operational risk as areas that continue to be contentious.

Tommy Snow, a director of capital policy at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency echoed Hendricks’ call for an ongoing dialogue between regulators
