Clearing to get boost from more to exchanges by OTC derivatives

A revolution is coming in clearing, as regulations require central clearing for OTC derivatives. Market conditions mean clients are obsessed by the financial stability of clearing counterparties.

For decades, clearing services were a sleepy backwater to the investment world. But 2008 put an end to that.

“There has been a great illumination of the process of clearing since 2008 and it’s significantly impacting the way the market works,” says Dave Olsen, global head of over-the-counter clearing at JP Morgan.
