Open position concentration hits record high at top CCPs

LCH, Nasdaq and Eurex report biggest quarterly jumps among 16 clearing houses

LCH, Eurex Clearing and Nasdaq Clearing saw the highest increases in average open position concentration across 16 global central counterparties (CCPs) in the first quarter, with the sample’s median reaching an all-time high for the second consecutive quarter.

LCH’s UK-based RepoClear service had the largest uptick in the proportion of open positions held by the largest five clearing members, rising 3.54 percentage points to 40.24%. Nasdaq’s commodities division followed with an increase of 3
