Brazilian private insurer Seguradora Líder incurred November’s largest loss when it was ordered to repay 2.26 billion reais ($414.9 million) by Brazilian insurance regulator Superintdencia de Seguros Privados (Susep) for irregular use of public funds between 2008 and 2020.

A federal police investigation into Líder found that it had contracted third-party services without due competition and scrutiny, some of which had been paid
