Barclays has hired two senior energy traders to beef up its commodities business, according to an internal bank memo obtained by Risk.net. The bank has suffered a raft of departures in recent years as it scaled back its ambitions in the commodity markets.

Russell Ballato, the former global head of energy trading at Credit Suisse, is set to join Barclays later this week as a New York-based managing director and head of energy trading, the July 20 memo says. Credit Suisse announced it was shutting
