Booming US fund swaptions market boosts Morgan Stanley
Counterparty Radar: Nomura cements position as leading foreign-owned dealer in the space
Morgan Stanley increased the total value of the swaptions trades it conducted with US mutual funds by 45% to $39 billion in the third quarter of 2022 as activity in the sector remained at elevated levels.
The dealer increased its market share by 4.9 percentage points to 17%, strengthening the bank’s position as the second-largest provider of interest rate swaptions to mutual funds and exchange-traded funds, propelled by flourishing relationships with major swaptions users including BlackRock
