iShares’ Meijaard downplays ETF price war charges

After cutting fees on its Core Series ETFs, iShares’ head of Emea sales says the focus in Europe should be not on a price war but on improving the settlement and clearing process

Days after slashing fees on some of its most popular exchange-traded funds (ETFs), iShares' head of sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (Emea) said that improvements around settlement and clearing of ETFs in Europe, and not lower costs, will be the main driver of growth for the ETF industry.

iShares announced on Monday that it was lowering total expense ratios by more than half on some of its Core Series ETFs, after Fidelity and Amundi made similar announcements earlier this year.
