Low interest rates boost building society sales but niche distribution status remains

More than a quarter of UK building societies distribute structured products (including structured deposits). These products are sourced from only a few providers, some of which have arranged tie-ins with building societies that limit the ability of others to access this niche distribution channel.

There are 52 members of the UK Building Societies Association, and of the 39 that responded to being asked by Structured Products whether they distribute structured products, 14 said they sell either
