Market participants are doubtful that a swift move to hub-based liquefied natural gas (LNG) pricing is in the offing in Asia, despite a recent clamour from big LNG buyers complaining about the high premiums and inflexible terms they face.

On September 9, representatives from the Japanese and Indian trade ministries said they would support the formation of a multilateral joint study group on LNG. The group, which other big LNG importers could yet join, is intended to study and share information
