European Union commodity traders have a new acronym to learn. The EU's Market Abuse Regulation (Mar) has, up to now, been eclipsed by the more immediate and onerous concerns of the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (Emir) and the reworked Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (Mifid II). But that is set to change as Mar takes effect in just over four months – with far-reaching implications that are still poorly understood by many market participants.
