Antonio Perrella

Antonio Perrella is an expert in the Markets and Payment Systems Oversight Directorate of the Bank of Italy. He directly supports Governor Fabio Panetta, in his role as Chair of the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures (CPMI). He coordinates international strategy and policy work in the area of payments and financial market infrastructures, including clearing, settlement, cross-border payments and digital innovations in payments such as CBDCs, stablecoins and crypto assets. He previously worked in the Money and Financial Markets Division of the Bank of Italy, where he focused on government bond markets. Prior to joining the Bank in 2020, he worked in the Research and Statistics Departments of the Bank for International Settlements and the European Central Bank, respectively. He holds a BSc in Economics and an MSc in Quantitative Finance from Sapienza University of Rome. He is a PhD candidate in Banking and Finance at the same university. Since 2021 he is a CFA Charterholder.
