The UK Independence Party has received more than £160,000 in donations from members of the hedge fund industry

Ukip is attracting support from hedge fund managers

UK hedge fund money in the past has favoured the Conservative Party, but the UK Independence Party (Ukip) is increasingly attracting donations from the industry.

More than £160,000 in political donations can be traced back to two hedge fund managers and their companies. A third fund manager is reported to have joined the party.

Crispin Odey is now a key donor to Ukip, having previously been a significant donor to the Conservatives, and has reportedly held a series of meet-and-greet sessions at
