The mining sector has seen a bout of profit-taking recently, after a series of resource companies reported a rise in capital expenditure together with anxiety about the sustainability of China's economic growth, a concern that seems to spring to the surface (and defused) on a regular basis. Some companies have their own specific problems and have deservedly had their shares marked down. One in particular is BHP Billiton. Workers at Chile's Escondida mine walked away from their jobs on 7 August
