Regulators blamed for strategic risk failings, says Risk.net poll

Poll respondents might be pointing the finger at supervisors but risk experts say corporate management itself is at fault

Regulators are to blame for the low priority attached to strategic risk at many companies, according to a new Risk.net poll. Some 30% of respondents said they believed the most significant roadblock for risk managers seeking to assess strategic risk is the failure of regulators to adequately promote it.

Nearly one-quarter of respondents to the poll said the biggest obstacle is "insufficient discussion of strategic issues across the enterprise", while 19% blamed the hostility of business units
