EU watchdogs to launch prop trader capital review in April

Prop traders say bank-style IFR rules are driving them out, but doubt EBA will suggest changes

Two European Union regulatory watchdogs will soon take the first step in reviewing capital requirements set for proprietary trading groups, buy-side firms, and broker-dealers that do not have a banking licence. A spokesperson at the European Banking Authority confirms to Risk.net that they intend to publish a discussion paper for consultation in April “if there are no more delays”.
