To say the regulatory environment for over-the-counter derivatives looks uncertain would be an understatement of epic proportions. Over a period of 26 days, between October 15 and November 10, no fewer than three legislative proposals emerged from the US – one each from the House Committee on Financial Services, the House Committee on Agriculture and the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. The European Commission has also got in on the act, publishing its intended future
