Regulators must practise what they preach

In this month's issue we focus a lot on the changes occurring to financial regulatory regimes around the world. It is easy to see what effect such sweeping changes will have on banks, but it not always so clear how the changes will affect the way regulators themselves operate (see 'Best-laid plans' on page 18 for more on this). The EU's proposed new regime could substantially increase the operational risk in the regulatory infrastructure - something many politicians have not given much thought
