Daiwa boosts Hong Kong with new hires and $1bn in capital

Daiwa Securities has seconded Dominique Blanchard, global head of derivatives at Daiwa Capital Markets in London, to Hong Kong to spearhead the Japanese firm’s rapid expansion in the Asian financial markets.

This includes adding 300 staff in the coming months to its Asian equity and derivatives business outside Japan and committing ¥100 billion ($1.09 billion) to Japan’s second-largest securities firm’s Hong Kong operation by April – more than doubling its capitalisation.
